Quick Guide to Reloading
By Poisenbery.
I labbed all of the character’s abilities and game mechanics to figure out which interactions affect reload times. Here is what I learned:
- Light Melee attack will pause your current reload cycle while you melee.
- Heavy Melee attack will pause your current reload cycle AFTER the punch (you still reload while charging).
- Dodge will pause your current reload cycle until you regain control of you character again.
- Bebop uppercut is the only ability in the game to pause your current reload cycle. (Same as light melee attack)
- Dynamo, Seven, and Haze ults will cancel your reload.
- Yamato ult gives her a full clip after duration ends.
This means that certain characters should (usually) always be using reload before using certain abilities with long duration. Notable examples are:
- Abrams Charge
- Bebop Hyper Beam
- Grey Talon Guided Owl (usually)
- Infernus Flame Dash
- Ivy Stone Form (seems to be same duration as reload)
- Kelvin Arctic Beam
- Lash Death Slam
- McGinnis Heavy Barrage
- Mo and Krill Burrow and Combo.
- Paradox Kinetic Carbine (The charge time is the exact same time as a reload).
- Pocket Barrage and Enchanter’s Satchel
- Viscous Cube and Goo Ball
Honorable Mention: Yamato Power Slash
Basically, your abilities don’t interrupt your reloads. The ONLY exceptions are Bebop uppercut pausing, and Dynamo/Seven/Haze ults outright canceling.
A couple more interesting notes:
- Grey Talon can fire Charge Shot while reloading
- Vindicta can fire Assassinate while reloading
