Diablo 4 – Sorcerer Guide: Tanky Incinerate Build (Pit 93)

Tanky Incinerate Build Guide

The core incinerate build has just 3 main pieces:

1) Flamethrower aspect on a 2 hand staff. Flamethrower gives you 3 incinerate beams at up to x170% each, giving you x510% incinerate damage if you hit the same target with all 3 beams (stay close).

2) Conflagration aspect on amulet. Not only you get x60% burning damage, you also get a powerful proc that’ll noticeably increase your DoT tick damage every 3 seconds.

3) Burning Instinct legendary paragon node. Pamp this one as much as possible. Intelligence is king. INT is a damage multiplier on itself, and it also double dips by increasing the multiplicative damage of Burning Instinct. This node also turns Crit damage from an useless stat for us to a great damage scaling one.

Early game you might want to look for the Mana per second stat on your chest/boots/helmet, and perhaps also get Life on a hit and run Hydra.

Stat Priority:

  • Intelligence
  • Fire damage over time
  • plain Crit damage
  • Max life

You can easily run max life on all your pieces and still have Ok enough damage for pit 90~.

Gear Commentary:

  • Helmet – My build uses Harlequin Crest, but you can also use a Max health/Intelligence/CDR helmet with a Everliving or Concussive strikes, or Snowveiled if you’re not running Metamorphosis on your boots to get unstoppable on your ice armor. Godslayer Crown works just fine as well.
  • Chest – Soulbrand is a must if you want to be a beefy boy, or gal.
  • Gloves Best with + to incinerate. Can have int, health, crit damage, or fire DoT, all good.
  • Pants – Tibaults for more damage, you don’t need the resource. You can swap to Temerity to be WAY tankier. With Soulbrand + Temerity my potion gives me about 11.5k barrier, without temerity I get 3.6k~. Arguably greater affix masterworked Intelligence*, Health, and Armor pants can give you more damage than Tibaults because of the int and Burning Instinct. Armor opens up a damage slot on gloves, or health/int on boots.
  • Boots – I like Metamorphosis for the unstoppable. Other good option is Concussive Strikes or Bounding Conduit.
  • Weapon – A staff. Intelligence, Max life, and Fire DoT or Critical Strike damage. The math has to be done which one is better.
  • Amulet – Get % int, and then any multiplicative damage passives for your Incinerate. Endless pyre should give the most %. Movement speed, max life, cdr, go wild.
  • Ring – Tal Rasha’s should be the best. The second ring needs Int, Fire DoT or Crit Damage, and then life. Or you might like a lucky hit chance to make vulnerable for better trash clear. The Engulfing flames aspect is not a need, Shredding blades,Edgemaster, Inner calm, Stormswell can all work.
  • Tempering – The most important temper is Poision or Shadow damage lucky hit on your Weapon for that sweet 4th stack on your Tal Rasha’s ring. Many staffs shall be bricked. Then it’s Fire DoT for Offensive. Lucky hit to Freeze and Stun for Utility. You can also get more movement speed if you like. Warmth can be nice for Temerity enjoyers.

Beware of non-vanilla crit damage stats, such as the pyromancy crit damage increase from tempering. They do not work with Burning Instinct.

The Flamescar unique wand is a bait – perhaps it could be viable if the sparks did burning DoT damage at Ebonpiercer levels.

I consider X’Fal a bait, you might get up to 2m dmg procs, but giving your DoT can be ticking for up to 60m it’s not that significant and you have to sacrifice a lot.

Enchantments can be experimented with, I find Ice Blades the best for good ol’ cooldown reduction and vulnerability, conjuration mastery benefits. Firewall is nice because of the x25% it gives.

Lightning spear active skill can be replaced with whatever skill you would like, can play an ultimate, frost nova. Hydra seems lacking. Or replace it with the Firewall for manually cast x25% multiplier and use the enhancement slot for something else.

Incinerate enchantment is weak, it doesn’t inherit your incinerate properly and does about 1/100 of my incinerate damage.
