Nether Disciple First 7 Day Playthrough
By shrug
I decided to make this guide because we often see new players ask something like “My deepest level is already 60 but I’m only level 40, is that good?” and an experienced player responds “With ND you should be able to do level 500 dungeons at level 40”. I found that the reality is somewhere in between.
I set out to see how much progress I could make in 7 days with a brand new character. Obviously this was f2p, but I also avoided gachas because available unique gear isn’t the same each week. I also avoided using all allies because depending on which allies I rolled, the experience can’t easily be replicated. I didn’t use any crazy strategies to really push things because I don’t have the patience and new players aren’t likely to use them.
In the end I hit dungeon level 330 with a level 60 character and level 30 ND. I welcome other folks to try different permutations like using allies or going ice mage.
General Tips
- Start out as yerles warmage.
- Focus on grinding the highest level dungeons you can instead of story quests.
- Wait until the end of the day to claim the new player chest rewards because the gear level matches your deepest level. Once you reach level 200 you can open those chests right away
- Keep important skill potentials over 100%: tactics, two hand, polearm, your armor of choice, and if you plan to grind favor anatomy is useful only until you reach level 50
- Elemental damage can have extra effects that are very useful. Find nether damage to add some life steal to your attacks and dark damage to blind enemies so they stop attacking back
- Worship Opatos. Days 3 and 4 require you to worship Opatos and the strength bonus will be very useful for snaps early on.
- If you get scrolls of gain attributes, bless them so they are likely to unlock skills for you.
- Make sure to do rift dungeons when they are open so you can buy void cores each week, they are important for upgrading nether disciple.
Day 1
- First goal is to get 10 platinum coins, go to Yowyn, and learn Two Hand skill.
- Once you unlock Savage Rage at level 20 Two Hand damage look up how to do snaps, it will greatly increase your damage.
- Second goal is to get to level 40 as quickly as possible to unlock Nether Disciple advanced class.
- Advance in the main story as needed to unlock game features.
- Once you reach level 20, grind minatour next until you are level 27, then go to Lumiest with 50 flowers to unlock Library and grind Library until level 30, then go to Valley of the Wind (find Larna in SE corner of the map) and grind to level 40
- Once you reach level 18 you unlock random dungeons and nefia points. Max out and reset your nefia points each day, but don’t spend them until you reach South Tyris
Day 2
- Today’s goal is unlocking ND for massive HP boost.
- Secondary goal is to finish the main story (kill Zeome, talk to librarian again) then gather 3M gold to unlock South Tyris. You won’t be able to do the dungeons there, but the convenant bonuses are huge compared to North Tyris and use the same currency to upgrade.
- For reference I was able to clear Valley of the Wind (level 65) before unlocking ND.
Day 3
- Once you can do level 100 dungeons, grind marksman to level 50 to unlock hunting time because the defense penetration bonus applies to melee as well.
- Res will become important at this point. You’ll get 800 of each type in a few days, but you need some now. Grind nature, nerve, nether, and cold to at least 150, preferably 300
- If you’ve reached South Tyris you can now ignore quests completely and come back to them after you complete the first week tasks.
- I started with Lulwy and had to spend time today grinding 4000 favor so I could switch back to Opatos for the quests, avoid this by starting with Opatos.
Day 4
- One of the new daily quests from here out is to spend 20 diamonds. Beside the daily GC for 14 diamonds, I recommend unlocking the first three additional South Tyris oaths with diamonds (6, 8, 10) because you can then get 1200 extra hit
- If you haven’t already talk to Marks in Derphy and complete the Pyramid quest to get the statue of Opatos that can refresh the random dungeons daily.
- Don’t worry to much about dying, gold is easy to come by.
- Unlock some useful spells by visiting the mage’s guild in Lumiest, killing the watchman, then using a disguise set inside. Try to find: Armored, Holy Veil, Inspire, Identify, Return, Healing spells
Day 5
- Keep on grinding. For me this day had a 6 hour maintenance window that ate up most of my grinding time.
- Keep raising your polearm level aiming for level 80 to unlock Hold The Line. You may need to raise your con and magic stats to raise your max polearm level.
Day 6
- Keep on grinding. You need at least level 50 for day 7 to get 5 of each advanced stat food.
- A quest today gives 5 large res cakes of each kind, eat them up!
- There are a number of ways to get the red item quest (most free red items are useless and should be avoided). One easy way is to throw love potions at Candor in Port Kapul until you get an egg. Hatch the egg, unequip the red item he comes with, drop it on the ground, and pick it up
Day 7
- Keep on grinding. Goal should easily be 250+ dungeons that drop crystals so you can start upgrading your ultimate levels and covenants.
- For me this was Saturday with guild Opatos blessing so I was able to greatly improve my savage rage snap and increase my damage.
- In the end I had 73 GC (excluding maintenance compensation) and 1400+ diamonds having not spend any more than I needed to. Enough to pity the current well, Needle Rain, which I did after the day ended. Maybe I’ll do a day 8 seeing how far the new spear carries me…
