Guide to Catching the Snitch
By FarrenSquare
The Snitch can be tricky to follow and it can be stressful when the win may ride on your next catch! Here are some ways to get the edge on the elusive ball and the opposing Seeker!
Anticipate Its Arrival:
In this mode, the Snitch will enter the pitch around the 5-minute and 2-minute marks. Be ready to switch to your Seeker and get a jump on the search, since the first Seeker to find the Snitch by flying near it gets a small bump to their catching progress.
Use Rings Tactically:
A common misconception for new Seekers is that you must fly through every ring the Snitch leaves behind.
Instead, you only speed up your catch progress by flying closer to the Snitch, so feel free to avoid rings that are out of the way if they would put you further away from your target. These rings refresh your boost meter, making it easier to keep up with the Snitch.
Anticipate Turns:
Closing distance on the Snitch can be difficult on tight turns, especially at the ends of the pitch. Use the drift maneuver to make tight 180 turns, boosting out of the turn when you’re sure which way the snitch is going.
Don’t Panic:
When the bar is full and turns blue, you still need to get in range to catch the Snitch. Stay focused and don’t lose control trying to rush it. Avoid evading as soon as you see an incoming Bludger warning as well. Time your evade with the Bludgers’ approach speed and you’ll be a lot harder to hit!
