Idle Huntress – Comprehensive Guide to Medea

Medea Guide (Skill Overview and Team Synergies)

Medea is one of the latest additions to the Idle Huntress roster, and was one of the most anticipated releases for global. This guide is here to explain the reasoning behind the anticipation and show why Medea is one of the best support huntresses in the game. Before we get into the nitty gritty of team synergies, it’s important to understand how Medea’s skills work.

Let’s begin with her first skill Handy Gadgets:

The important information to absorb here is this:

  • Increases the Final DMG of the ally with the highest current HP (including Medea) by 10/30/50% for 2 rounds.
  • Increases the SPD of the ally with the highest SPD (Including Medea) by 10/20/30 for 3 rounds.

These effects can significantly increase a character’s damage output, as well as give your fastest character a speed advantage in fights.

As a reminder to anyone who would like to understand the impact 50% final damage has, damage calculation is done as ordered:

[(Attacker ATK - Defender DEF) * (Final DMG - Final DMG Reduce)]

This formula, of course, does not include specific elemental damage increases/reductions and such, but that’s a topic for a different guide.

Though Medea’s first skill is already impressive enough, it ends up being only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the support she provides, bringing us to her ultimate skill Support Time:

To summarize, here are the important effects of the skill:

  • If there are other allied huntresses on the field, Medea replaces herself with a stand-in, becoming untargetable and unable to take action, as well as supporting the ally with the highest ATK, dispelling their active debuffs and granting them 60% of Medea’s max HP, current HP, ATK, DEF, and 30% Tenacity and Final DMG Reduction.
  • Actions the supported target take have a 30/80% chance to reoccur (Can only trigger twice per round)

Medea’s ultimate is incredibly powerful because it allows you to concentrate a plethora of buffs on your best damage dealer, chief among them being an 80% chance to repeat an action up to two times per turn. Now you might think that an 80% chance to repeat action is too RNG, but even leaving that aside, the increases to the target’s offensive and defensive stats are something you’d be hard pressed to find elsewhere.

In case you didn’t think her active skills were quite enough for you, here’s Medea’s passive skill Insignia Pact:

The essential effects of the skill are as follows:

  • At the beginning of battle, Medea places 1/2/4 on all allies and an additional 2 marks on Water allies
  • At the start of even rounds, Medea places 1 on all allies

<Society Mark>

  • Increases physical and magical dmg reduce by 2% stacking up to 100 times, cannot be dispelled.
  • Gain 1 mark after an enemy takes action
  • Lose 2 marks after taking an action

Though society marks may not seem particularly strong on their own, in prolonged fight situations such as chapter stages or stall fights, they can stack up to a point where your huntresses will take 0 damage, proving to be quite a powerful tool to have, especially for a passive effect.

The next item on the menu is Medea’s exclusive equipment skill Duties of Elders:

Here’s the short version of Medea’s Exclusive Equipment(EE):

  • EE30: If Medea is currently supporting an ally (using her ultimate), increases the supported ally’s attack by 20%
  • EE40: Increases supported ally’s attack by 40%
  • EE50: Increases supported ally’s DEF by 40% and Final DMG Reduction by 20%

Medea’s EE skill enhances her ultimate once more, allowing for a separate attack boost based on the ally’s attack, as well as boosting their defenses heavily. This means more damage and more survival, further contributing to the damage output of your best damage dealer.

Just in case you didn’t think Medea’s ultimate skill had enough functionality, she adds a little more to it with her awakening skill Energetic Drive:

The highlight of the skill is as follows:

  • At the start of battle, cast Support Time(US) once. The supported target gains 15 Rain Marks at the beginning of the 2nd supported round

The current functionality of the skill provides 15 Rain Marks at the beginning of the 2nd round that her ult is active. The most important effect to note is that her awakening skill now causes her to cast her ultimate at the beginning of the battle, allowing for some crazy team combinations.

This brings us to the final skill at Medea’s disposal, her familiar skill It’s Golden Wool!:

To sum it up:

  • At the start of every round, dispels 2 debuffs from the ally with the lowest current HP and restores HP equal to 200/300/400/500/600% of Medea’s ATK and 20/30/40/50/60% of her max HP. Excess healing is converted to shield

As you may have noticed, a lot of Medea’s kit revolves around stats and stat boosts. With familiars/pets being one of the best sources of base stats in the game currently, it’s imperative that you pick this up in the event you obtain a 6 star Medea. Leaving stats aside, the familiar skill itself is no joke either, providing a heal and possible shield for the lowest hp huntress on your team at the beginning of every round, as well as cleansing up to 2 debuffs from them.

To wrap things up, there are two more things to go over. The first will be how to build Medea, and the second will be a few recommended team compositions. As we noted earlier, increasing Medea’s stats to further boost her support potential is incredibly important, with Health and Attack being the focus of our attention. In order to boost your damage dealer’s skills to the maximum, it’s recommended that you utilize the 2 piece set bonuses of the Fury and Flame engraving types, as make sure the main stat is ATK% with at least one of the sub stats being HP%.

Badges will largely follow this recommendation as well, as Medea gains very little from having stats such as Crit, Dodge, or Hit. Unlike many characters, speed doesn’t matter as much on Medea if she has her awakening skill, except in the event of a boss battle, where Medea ulting before your primary damage dealer will exponentially increase your damage output, which brings us to suggested teams and damage dealers to pair her with.

Team 1: Zhou

This is a bit of a more budget team since not everyone can have all the best units with all the best gear, ideally a more finalized team would use Shibata Katsuie or Carmen instead of Morgana, and in the event of using Katsuie, put her in front of Zhou Yu and have Takeda in the top right corner. The idea of this team is to end the fight before it truly begins.

Medea will use her ult to support Zhou Yu, and ideally Zhou will use her awakening skill to wipe out the enemy team by ulting 3 times using Medea’s support; however, in the event this doesn’t happen, it’s likely that Zhou will still be able to take out key targets by using her 1st skill in conjunction with Medea’s ultimate. Morgana’s placement here is to counter any enemy Zhou Yus, as she can reflect magical damage.

Team 2: Mordred

This team is far from being budget, but it gets the job done quite well. Mordred is a fantastic damage dealer, especially in drawn out fights, and pairing her with the survivability that Daji, Charlemagne and Medea provide blows this out of the proportion that many teams can handle. Mordred begins casting her ultimate skill at the beginning of every round starting on the 6th round, causing an immense amount of damage to the enemy team when used alongside Medea’s ultimate skill.

I hope this was helpful to you!
