Song of the Dragonslayer and How Best to Prepare for It
By S4U.
Key Notes:
SotD is a guild event, so you need an active and strong guild to rank high.
- There is both a guild rank and a personal one, and both are relevant to your currency rewards, much like Hero Assembly.
SotD features a ‘premier unit’ generally, this unit can be run 3 times a day instead of 1 and benefits from the event’s global passive. Summoning that unit may help you do damage.
Mechanics:
10 round fight, 3 times a day, with bonus rounds:
- Each day you can challenge up to 3 times, and each hero can only be used once a day.
- If you manage to defeat your target in less than 10 rounds, you unlock a bonus challenge with rounds equal to the remaining rounds in the fight. Bonus rounds use a parallel copy of your hero pool, meaning heroes used in normal challenges can be used, but heroes can only be placed in one bonus round a day
Bosses skip their first turn:
- This has been the case for now, I think it will remain consistent but I’m not sure
Each ‘run’ of the event has its own global modifier:
- This usually provides some sort of bonus that synergizes with the ‘premier unit’. Make sure to read it as it can sometimes apply to other units as well.
Rotates between 3 bosses in each stage:
- I’ll go into detail about the bosses further into this guide.
- Each stage increases the stats of each boss, and the point multiplier (called the Points Coefficient).
- Your score in the fight is your damage times the point multiplier.
- There are guild rewards for defeating the boss, and rewards for the last hit.
- Last hit rewards are totally not worth trying to snipe kills, don’t bother.
- Since each stage alters the stats, and the event hasn’t been around long enough, I can’t tell you the Tenacity values of each boss yet, but you can crit them, so crit is relevant.
- Bosses also gain Block chance, which becomes more noticeable at further stages.
The Bosses:
- Redstone Dragon is resistant to Magic Damage
- Phys carries are suggested, there are loads of options.
- Deals a lot of damage to backline units, so put your squishies in the front.
- Mirror Kylin is resistant to Physical Damage
- Options are more limited, so your best wisdom units or true damage sources are your alternatives to just powering through.
- Mirror Kylin is also a Wisdom unit so anti Wis characters like Morgana can provide their benefits.
- Destructor Ape can be Floated (airborne, sent flying, whatever you want to call it)
- You can use your wind core float team here and actually benefit from float, but the boss is not resistant to any damage type so if your wind core is weak you can default to your best damage source.
- Destructor Ape will perma-stun the unit with the highest speed, so it is recommended to place a passive support unit in to absorb the stun like Catherine.
The Shop:
Niwa Shards above all else:
- Every other item in the shop has alternative methods to acquire it. Niwa is only available from here or from her limited summon, and since you can get her here for free, I recommend saving your scrolls and maxing her out through this manner.
- Niwa is a core Frost unit and a hard counter to burn teams with her EE, so having her is a huge benefit. She is also a key bond unit, so her star level will contribute to bond stats.
Everything else in the shop isn’t too tempting, so once you max your Niwa I recommend saving your coins for either a shop update or a moment where you feel you need something from the shop. Most of the resources available you will get over time so there’s no huge rush unless you’re trying to hit a breakpoint.
Like the Territory Defense shop, there are purchase levels, so spreading out your purchases throughout the months can help you save coins in the long run.
I hope the above information was helpful. Happy gaming!
