Idle Huntress – Summoning Strategies

Guide to Summoning as a Low Spender

By S4U.

I’m going to talk about two main methods of thought a f2p or low spender can use to keep up with the release of new characters.

Keep in mind: Always have a way to have 25000 crystals by the start of the month for fortune cat, as the monthly income there will help you out no matter what you do.

  • Grab 1 copy of each L/D unit, to eventually max out via TD omni shards. Since this takes a while (7 months to a year per unit), don’t spend crystals on L/D summons unless you can afford to, just get your tickets over time, and only pop them when you have 160 in case you get unlucky and need to break pity.
  • This guide is intended for people that don’t spend a lot, or for free to play players, but the concepts do extend for spenders. Remember to stay financially responsible, I personally don’t spend a lot and I will not make a lot of comments or recommendations on how much you should spend because the financial situation of every individual is unique.

The Two Ideologies of Summoning:

Go Wide:

  • Summon 80 times on units you don’t have, and units you want to max.
    • 80 summons is theoretically the most efficient summon amount, as it gives you 20 scrolls back and a free copy.
  • You can skip units, but the goal is to eventually acquire everyone over time.
  • Try to summon “premier” units in events that need them, as they proclaim to help with your ranking in the event, generating more resources in the long run.
  • It’s not always possible to pull on every banner, and that’s ok. Most characters return, and delaying them by one rotation for the sake of maintaining your resources is a perfectly reasonable position to take.

Go Tall:

  • Skip everything until you can summon 600 times on a banner.
    • Poetic encounter maxes out on the 600th summon, and guarantees 4 copies, plus whatever you pull. Generally this should get you around a 5 star unit, sometimes a 6 star.
    • If you want the 6 star, save more to pull the last copies, but it’s up to chance at that point.
    • Remember to save up for their EE and pet, and open a guardian slot for them.
    • If you don’t get the last few copies you can always wait for a rerun or omni shards to compensate.
  • Summon on a unit you know you want, and will provide value as a “premier unit”.
    • 600 summons is a huge investment, and if you’re waiting all that time, you want to be able to compete in ranking events with that character.
    • It’s better to focus on units for which you have a high lvl guardian dragon. For instance, my water dragon is my highest level so I go for water units.

The Benefits:

Territory Defense:

  • Going wide grants you more combats, and more hammers. This can allow you to go through floors without having to commit your high power units, saving them for the boss.

Story / Tower Content:

  • Going tall will generally allow that unit to carry a team in these contexts, advancing you further in the stage.

Premier Events:

  • Like Monster Attack, these events generally have bonuses based on having the current banner unit. Going tall will better utilize those advantages when you decide to crack the bank, and going wide will allow you to benefit from all of these events, rather than just the ones you go tall in.

I sincerely hope this was helpful. Good luck to you!
