Legion TD 2 – Useful Tips and Tricks

Tips and Tricks

General tips

Normally you want to start with taking units that cover you up to wave 7-9. Choose your opener and then add units that support their weak waves. And then look for missing damage/tank types or synergies.

You want to have at least 2 different tanks (shield icon on the top left). You don’t need every defense type, a combination of 2 could be enough. Arcane+Natural / Swift+Fortified are good combinations that can cover all waves.

You want to have at least 2 different dps units (sword icon on the top left). If you choose for example a pierce unit, you will need a magic unit, to cover each others weak waves.

Bruiser/flex units (shield+sword) can be used for both their dps or tanks stats.

Tips to Start

Go ranked and play some of the easy Masterminds. I recommend you pick “lock in fighter” this allows you to choose a unit you want to open with (unit you place on the first wave). In game you will get a more balanced role to choose your remaining towers.

Classic has no real match making, compared to 2v2 where you play against other potatoes.

The Campaings or games against the KI are good opportunities to practice without loosing elo.

Some good openers for beginners are:

  • One Bazooka who you upgrade into Pyro.
  • One Gargoyle who you upgrade into Green Devil.
  • One Honey Flower.
  • One Berserker.

There are many more possible openers which you will figure out yourself.

How does ranked matchmaking and elo-distribution work?

Whenever a player is joining in the ranked matchmaking queue, the system will search for both a teammate and an opponent team within your elo reach. If everything works out perfectly, you will have an even match, this means your team’s combined elo about equals the enemies’ combined elo and this will result in either a +16 elo gain on a win, or a -16 elo loss on a loss.

Sometimes, an exactly equal matchmaking is not possible. This usually happens, when there is just no other equal queuing team present at that time. In most cases, the elo difference is minor, in some rare cases the elo difference can be significant.

When one teams’ combined elo is higher than the other team’s combined elo, this of course means that one team is more “favoured” to win than the other team. To compensate this, the elo gain / loss changes. Coming back to the previous mentioned +16 / -16 elo on a equal matchup, this would mean a +17 gain or a -15 loss on an occasion when the other team is slightly favoured, or +15 / -17 vice versa and scales further, the bigger the elo difference gets. It is capped at +/- 30 and +/- 2.

Placement matches (either your very first 20 ranked games played, or your first 10 ranked games played in a new season) give you double elo gained / lost. Purchasing “Double Down” from the shop’s account tab also gives you double elo gained / lost for a total of 3 matches per purchase.

Worth to mention, queuing together in a 2-man party gives a small team penalty for communication advantages. The penalty increases gradually with the players elo gap, to prevent smurf boosting.
