Lost Ark – Artillerist FAQ

Gameplay FAQ

Why should I play this class?

Artillerist is a versatile class with a mix of damage, stagger, destruction and survivability. It has many skill options that let you adjust to any situation and is overall fun to play. Barrage, the wheelchair, lets you facetank many patterns while dishing out big damage, while Firepower lets you be nimble and constantly drop big nukes on your target.

Barrage Enhancement

Playstyle

Use normal skills to fully generate your meter and use your Barrage skills for a more burst oriented playstyle.

What is the difference between the 5 damage gem build and the 4 damage gem build?

The 5 damage gem build is the set up with the highest ceiling in terms of damage in Trixion (5% more damage). You have an extra normal skill (Pressurized Heat Bomb) in place of napalm, but the downside of that build is that missing just one skill will prevent you from going into Barrage mode.

The 4 damage gem build has a lower ceiling but more consistency along with utility since you run Napalm.

If you are confident you can land every skill, then the 5 damage gem build is for you. If this is an alt, or you want more room for error, the 4 damage gem build is the ideal choice.

Where does my crit come from?

  • Crit on necklace + bracelet sub stats: ~24%
  • Barrage mode: 40%
  • Tripods: 30-60%
  • Adren3: 15%
  • Adren1: 5%
  • Hallucination: 28%

A standard Salvation + Adrenaline3 setup leaves you at around 80% average crit chance. This leaves you just enough room for up to 2 crit synergies, or 1 crit syn + precise/circulate bracelet.

Hallucination + Adrenaline1 sits at around 97%, meaning if you ever get a crit synergy you should opt to swap the set effect to Salvation.

Adrenaline 3 or Adrenaline 1?

Adrenaline3 offers the most consistency in DPS, namely without crit synergies. There are a few scenarios that a player would switch to Adrenaline 1 (with HM/CD3) though.

  1. Using Hallucination – so Barrage mode doesn’t overcap.
  2. Ceiling chasing – taking a loss in consistent average DPS for higher highs (swingy).
  3. Consistent crit synergies in their raid groups.

How do I decide between Hallucination or Salvation?

Salvation provides more burst dps considering the relic set gives you 10% extra attack speed and higher ceiling with other sources of crit. If you have Adrenaline 2 or 3 in your build (or if you have crit synergies in your party) then Salvation will be the play.

Hallucination is for more consistent damage. I would highly recommend only swapping to this once you have Legendary elixirs. Even with that, there will be times where you will swap to Salvation if your party composition has crit synergies.

Is All-Out Attack Mandatory?

No, but it’s highly recommended due to the Quality of Life that comes with it, along with reducing the build cost and making you hit your wheelchair abilities more easily.

Not only does AoA provide more damage to your barrage skills, it helps condense the burst rotation even more. Shaving off 20% extra time on the chair will provide you more windows to greed for more damage or fit a rotation in before the boss phases.

AoA vs CD is roughly a 3% dmg difference, but is perfectly viable, and in some situations may result in higher DPS due to a faster burst (especially noticeable for a double Barrage atropine burst).

Does Barrage scale with levels?

Yes your identities gain damage at level 55 (10%) and 60 (5%).

Firepower Enhancement

Playstyle

Firepower Enhancement does away with Barrage Mode and just focuses on dropping good ol’ nukes on your target. It’s low pressure, easy to maintain and agile.

The builds center around balancing good cooldown reduction and crit rate, as uptime is very important for FPE.

Hit Master or Cursed Doll?

Hit Master doesn’t affect Bleed rune, any kind of burn DoTs, nor awakening damage.

However the damage difference is negligible due to Cursed Doll being additive to Adrenaline (and Ether Predator), meaning it also loses out on about 1% of its 16% damage.

Choose whichever you can afford, though Cursed Doll does have a non-negligible downside making your potions heal you for less.

Should I use Barrage Mode as crit/swift FPE?

Not for damage.

Without spec it does very poor damage period.

However, it can be used for lots of utility: when entering Barrage Mode you get 20% total DR, Push Immunity, access to a 30% shield, and more Destruction skills.

Should I stay in Boundless Mana or what?

You will not be able to maintain boundless unless you’re full Swift, where it is beneficial, and even then it’s hard to maintain. Avoiding it would be best for high crit builds so you can always have your max burst potential ready, but dipping into it isn’t too harsh on your overall DPS. Biggest thing to watch out for is cooldown desync.

Should I use Conviction/Judgment?

It’s a personal choice, most people don’t want to micromanage it, but if you’re down for that it will help you stay in Magick Addiction and the CDR will help with damage over time.

Currently Artillerist’s skill/tripod options for these runes aren’t the most consistent without giving up damage or utility on current meta skills. However, make sure to avoid running it completely on the Boundless variant, as it will make it harder to upkeep.
