The Hulking Titan Deck (Young Avengers)
By Goat.
Do you enjoy sacrificing a bit of consistency for the thrill of those sweet high rolls? When Hulkling impacted the scene, I immediately set out to create an environment where he can flourish while serving that purpose.
Card Breakdown
- First off, Thanos: He is quite obviously the core of the deck, and he serves his purpose well. With the Stones, he is a possible 5/10 to enable Skaar, can be played into sealed locations to swing games, and he sometimes will achieve his token titanic power. The Stones themselves of course are also cheap cards to get a bit of power down while preparing the larger threats.
- Nico Minoru: Versatile and potent, the 1-cost who can do it all. While not essential to the deck, she adds some much-needed consistency.
- Shadow King and Shang-Chi: The natural tech cards to ensure your own powerhouses are never being outshined. Shadow King also helps to alleviate the downside of Valentina.
- Valentina and Hulkling: Not one, but two random 6-cost effects! Valentina helps to get more power down early, with some hits being cheap Skaar enablers, and all hits helping out Mockingbird. Hulkling is perhaps a bit less volatile with his set cost and power, but this means very few of them will be actively bad, and he can create an explosive snap opportunity when copying Blob or Arnim Zola.
- Luke Cage and Caiera: With so many big and small cards down at any time, Caiera wipes away most of your worries while also letting you play into destroy locations. Luke Cage helps out with some locations as well, and can negate the downside of Valentina, while also protecting against the somewhat common threat of Hazmat.
- Hope Summers: More energy! It’s quite simple, and quite effective for playing more of anything.
- Cull Obsidian, Mockingbird, and Skaar: These big cards work comfortably in tandem with Thanos and Valentina to spread high power across your board.
All in all, it’s the most fun I’ve had with Thanos in months.
