Guide to Fael Floor 110+ (Mathaclysm Combo) Build
By Mihealsick
I can say without a doubt that this build is the most powerful thing in the game right now (I note this as “Floor 110+” because the only thing stopping my run from progressing is a (known) glitch where enemies don’t take damage. I don’t actually think it’s possible for this build to lose a fight).
v1.14 is full of cool Passive abilities on weapons, but once you hit floor 60 you’re often forced to equip Excalibur and you don’t get to play with any of your new toys.
Fael’s two weapon slots allow you to mix and match these abilities to unlock strategies that aren’t available for any other characters. One such passive ability is the Cursed set’s Edge of the Ruined, which causes each of your attacks to deal extra damage equal to 11% of the target’s health.
If you’re like me, you gave Blade of the Ruined a test drive and quickly realized that it deals damage based on a percent of the target’s current health, not it’s maximum. This means that the lower the target gets, the less extra damage you deal. It’s nice, but not that great…
At least, it’s not that great until lethality enters the picture. With the Cataclysm set and Blade of the Ruined equipped, the Edge of the Ruined passive ability causes you to deal damage that scales to the target’s health, and it will always reach 45% of its health and die from Lethality in exactly 7 hits.
This means all you need to succeed is:
- Cataclysm set, Cursed set for Blade of the Ruined, and Legacy set for Excalibur.
- Agility cap (from Pantaloons of Greatness and Coward’s Ring).
- 100% Penetration (from Shard of Power).
- 8+ attacks (4 from spec, 2 from Pantaloons, 1 from Swarm Challenge, and 4 from Warrior chest/feet).
- 2 Demonic Blood.
- 2 Moonflower Extract.
And that’s it. You need absolutely nothing else. In fact, assuming you can survive the early game, you could never dismantle a single item and still steamroll the game.
Endgame build!
Midgame build!
Use Scout set instead of Swift set before you’re agility capped without it. By the time you’re capped, you should start needing to swap over to Swift–the extra attacks and Faultbreaker will help against Iron Golems until you can max out your Shard of Power.
