No Man’s Sky – How to Get Units as a Beginner

How to Make Units (Money)

Salvaged Data:

Use your visor to search for icons similar to a wifi symbol (Buried Technology Modules) and dig them up. These are typically plentiful and can help jumpstart your bankroll. They are also used as a currency for construction blueprints, so start saving them once units are easier to come by.

BMF Farming:

Scan for Buried Mineral Formations, collecting as many as you can.

Ancient Bones:

Some planets will list Ancient Bones as a resource when scanned from space (or by your freighter scanner room). Search for Natural Burial Sites in your visor and dig them up.

Storm Crystal Farming:

Once you have acquired hazard protection, locate extreme weather planets and wait for a storm. Use your visor to look for storm crystals, which will be marked by a lightning symbol. Pick up as many as you can while the storm lasts.

Salvageable Scrap:

Some planets will list Salvageable scrap as a resource when scanned from space. Search for Salvage Containers in your visor. Dig to them with your terrain manipulator, and destroy the protective packaging with a weapon other than your mining beam. Be cautious as this may attract Corrupted Sentinels.

Whispering Egg Farming:

Found on dead / infected planets and around abandoned buildings, these can be a good source of units – but also refine to 50 nanites apiece. Be careful as harvesting these will trigger an attack swarm of bio horrors.

I hope this was helpful to you!
