Guide to Beasts
What Beasts to Use?
I would recommend to go with fox or elder bees to start off with. If you are not looking to spend jades on beasts, go for fox. If you are looking to spend jades on beasts, then go for a bee. The reason for this is because high star beasts give more base stats, therefore, providing more cp.
Making beast invasion, pvp, and pve easier for beginners. Reminder!!, do not get any other beasts, even if they are UR. It’s a waste of beast seals and you wouldn’t be able to get your current bee/ fox at a high level. I would recommend getting ying long because it is pretty hard to get after you switch from bee/fox, and is pretty rare, but that’s up to you.
If you wanna be stronger at the start and if you are aiming for the leaderboards, don’t get ying long. If you are not aiming for the leaderboards at the start, then get ying long. However, I do recommend getting ying long, as there is a thing called assist where you can get a second beast to assist your first. But, who knows. Maybe going with a double bee or bee+fox could also work (double fox is not recommended).
Abilities
For beast abilities, I would recommend Beast Up, Beast Down, Heal Up, Heal Down. These four abilities are really helpful in combat. Let me explain why.
Beast down is to prevent ying long players. For example, even a purple Beast Down Ability could easily counter ying long (given that your beast is maxed in terms of stars and their ying long is not yet star rating 15+, and not having beast up). Even a purple rated Beast Down provides 60% Beast Damage Resistance. Which prevents ying long from doing lots of damage! Now, Beast Up.
Normally, your beast does not do enough damage right? Well Beast up solves that problem. Lets just say you are using elder bees for example. With Beast up, you could get the elder bee to do more damage than you do! That would be really helpful in any situation, even in a beast invasion. Now, Heal Up. This is for players who want to use Whiskers Warden, Fu Sang, and genies / scrolls that provide healing. Which is vital. Golden Aura scroll is vital in any situation (except when you are very very late into the game). It is really helpful in preventing death, as it just keeps healing you.
Think about how overpowered that would be with Heal Up. And think about how overpowered it would be when you are revived (by either the genie or the scroll) and you are immediately healed, followed by the golden aura activating. Your opponent, without Heal Down, would struggle to counter that, as you would just heal all the way back up to over 40% of your original HP. This is why we need Heal Down. For people with Whisker Warden and with the privilege of being revived, Heal Down is the perfect weapon to use against them. Some people use Luan and Black Tortoise to strengthen their healing. Which is why I recommend having Heal Down.
Having 2 out of these 4 necessary abilities would be good enough for your beast (at least having the blue rarity, and you can repeat the ability from these four, for example, 3 beasts down. Or 2 beasts up. It would work just fine).
Devouring
Devouring Beasts will improve their star rating, and the higher a beasts star rating is, the more base stats it provides to us. Which is why we choose Bee / Fox. The max stars a beast can have is 40, but with soul cultivation, you can get up to 80 stars at the max (only rarities SSR+ have this privilege though).
There is also a trick called reverse devouring, but this only works for beasts that are SSR and under. The trick is to get a 0 star beast and devour the full star beast, that way you can refresh your abilities. Remember to reset your beast first in order to not lose Beast Food.
Refining
Refining beasts refresh their ability slots. However, the material costs are expensive and hard to get. The materials needed to refresh is called purifying dew. You may lock abilities you do not want to refresh and would like to keep with eternal rock. Locking one ability cost 20, locking 2 cost 40, and three cost 100.
The event to unlock these items is called guild siege, where you can access the pond to earn some of these items. I recommend only refining pets like yinglong or azure dragons. For bees, use reverse devour to refresh.
Soul Cultivation
Soul cultivation is a very p2w feature. Unless you are willing to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on it you won’t get very far. However you can still obtain enough soul blooms over time to get a couple tiers. Soul Blooms can be obtained from the demon domain event from exploring and also from leaderboard rewards. A traveling merchant can also be found during the event which sells a golden key and UR soul blooms for money. If you are spending this is the best source of soul blooms.
Each tier of soul cultivation increases final damage and every 5 tiers unlocks a feature. Every 5 tiers enhances the main skill of the beast and every 10 tiers unlocks a new passive for 8 total. The beast can also morph into an enhanced version at tier 20. Only SSR and UR can have soul cultivation and UR is much harder to enhance than SSR.
You should hold off on cultivating a beast if you have plans on devouring it or switching it later as you would only get back 80% of the soul blooms spent and if you want to reset the beast for 100% back the jade cost rises dramatically, e.g being a tier 1 SSR costing 700 jade to reset. The cost of soul blooms also increases every Tier. F2p and low spenders will find it extremely difficult to even take an SSR to tier 5 for skill enhancements so should spend jade/taiji on other events instead.
