OutRage: Fight Fest – New Brawler Guide

The Basics

Health

In Rumbleverse, your health is shown by a green bar above your character. Sometimes you have extra health bars, but you can’t heal past the max amount you start with. If you lose all your health, you get knocked out and lose your Rage, but you’ll respawn after a short rest. In the Knockout mode, getting eliminated means you’re out for good, unless your teammate makes it to the next round in Duos.

Stamina

Stamina is the white bar under your health. You use stamina when you sprint, dodge, or charge attacks. If you run out, you can’t do those things until it refills. Make sure to always have enough stamina for at least one dodge.

The Rage Gauge

The Rage Gauge is in the bottom right and has three sections. Dealing damage fills it up and makes you stronger. At first, you’re your normal self (Evo 1). Filling one section makes you bigger and stronger (Evo 2), letting you grab heavier things and other players. Filling two sections gets you to max size and strength (Evo 3). Fill all three and you can use your OverRage Ability. Keep fighting to maintain your Rage or it will start going down.

Attacking

Punching

Punching is fast and a good way to start combos, but you need to be close to land them. You can charge a punch for more range and damage in an arc, but it’s risky because enemies can dodge or counter.

Kicking

Kicking has more range than punching, so it’s good for keeping enemies away or hitting them as they run at you. But kicks are slow, so you need to time them right. You can also charge kicks to travel far and hit multiple enemies, but you can’t combo after them.

Grabbing

Grabbing lets you pick up items and other players. Against big opponents, you’ll just tackle them. But if they’re your size or smaller, you can pick them up and throw them. Try to throw players into groups or hazards for lots of damage and Rage. Be fast when grabbing and throwing, because your stamina drains quickly and players can escape your hold.

Evasion

Dodge Rolling

Rolling lets you dodge attacks and avoid damage. You’re invincible for a short time while rolling, so you can dodge things like explosions and fire if you time it right. You can also roll under the kicks of bigger players. Just watch your stamina, because rolling uses a lot of it. Always try to save enough stamina for an emergency roll.

Sprinting

Sprinting makes you go faster, which is useful for getting places quickly or running away. But it also uses stamina, so don’t sprint too much if you need to save some for rolling.

Pro Tip: You can do a Sprint Punch by punching right after your character flashes white while sprinting. This lunges you forward, so it’s good for catching up to someone who’s running away from you.

Weapons

Melee Weapons

Melee weapons like bats, shovels, and hammers are scattered around the arena. They glow blue and get outlined in yellow when you’re close enough to grab them. These weapons replace your punch and do more damage while knocking enemies back. Some, like the hammer, can hit multiple people at once. Weapons break after a few hits, shown by the orange pips near your Rage Gauge. You can drop weapons by grabbing or swapping them, and thrown weapons can be picked back up. If you get thrown while holding one, you’ll drop it.

Throwables

Many objects like cones, barrels, and vehicles can be picked up and thrown. Bigger objects need a higher Evo level to lift. Red gas canisters explode into damaging fire patches when thrown. You can catch thrown objects if you’re big enough and time it right. Thrown objects knock down teammates but don’t damage them.

Crates

Crates are throwable but are better used for their contents. Blue ones have melee weapons, red ones give Rage, green have healing items, and orange are a mystery. Green canisters make healing auras when broken. Be careful who you throw crates at, since breaking them can help your opponent.

Advanced Abilities

Combos

Combos are all about timing, not speed. They lock your opponent in place if you get the rhythm right, but they can escape or counterattack if you mess up. Combos have three hits, and the last hit determines what happens to your enemy.

Combos always start with two punches or kicks (including charged punches but not charged kicks). The third hit can be a punch, kick, or grab.

  • Ending with a punch uppercuts them into the air, damaging anyone they land on. Good for hitting groups.
  • Ending with a kick dropkicks them forward. Use this to knock them into hazards or exploding gas canisters.
  • Ending with a grab throws them behind you. It’s the only way for a weak Evo 1 to throw a strong Evo 3.

OverRage Abilities

When your Rage Gauge is full, you can use OverRage Abilities:

  • Man Grenade: Explodes and knocks back nearby enemies after a short delay. Try to blow them into hazards.
  • Overdrive: Temporarily boosts your strength, speed, and damage.
  • Rage Cage: Makes a damaging energy shield around you that protects you briefly.
  • Fireball: Shoots a big fireball that you can charge up for more power.

Environmental Hazards

There are lots of dangers in each OutRage: Fight Fest arena that you need to watch out for and use against your enemies.

Fire

Fire hazards come from red gas canisters scattered around the old construction and industrial sites. Throwing them or knocking someone into them makes them explode, sending people flying and leaving behind a burning patch for a few seconds. Bigger canisters make bigger explosions and fires. Metal cages can have multiple canisters to break open. The fire hurts everyone, even teammates.

Scaffolding

Many arenas have scaffolding left behind by construction crews or set up for the festival. Safety isn’t a big concern, so there’s often rubble piled up on top. Throwing or kicking enemies into the scaffolding drops a ton of debris on them for heavy damage. Watch out though, because it hurts you and your team too.

Pits

Pits are just big, uncovered holes in the ground. We put up guardrails, but they break easily. Falling into a pit instantly knocks you out, whether an enemy puts you in or you make a mistake.

Game Modes

There are several different game modes in OutRage: Fight Fest, including solo, team, and duo options.

Knockout (Solo):

  • 16 players battle until only one is left
  • No revivals, elimination is permanent
  • Starts with 16, then 8 in round 2, final 4 in last round
  • Full health at the start of each round
  • Healing items are important to control
  • Ring of Death closes in after 1 minute, draining Rage and then health

Knockout (Duos):

  • Same as Solo but with 2-player teams
  • Eliminated players revive if their teammate makes it to the next round
  • Work together and isolate enemies from their teammate

Pain Points:

  • 4 teams of 4 players
  • Get points for damaging enemies, with bonuses for eliminations
  • Reach the target score first or have the most when time runs out

Domination:

  • 4 teams of 4 players
  • Capture and hold 5 points around the map
  • Only your team in the point to capture it
  • Other teams contesting a point pauses capturing
  • Steal points by clearing out enemies
  • Score points over time for each point you hold
  • First to 100 points wins, or highest score at the end

Rage Bank:

  • 4 teams of 4 players
  • Gain Rage and deposit it at Rage Banks for points
  • Hold the Bank to drain your Rage into it, healing you a bit
  • Don’t hold full Rage too long or you might lose it
  • Banks disappear when full and respawn somewhere else

Crate Grab:

  • 4 teams of 4 players
  • Grab crates that match your color and take them to your base
  • Each crate scores 1 point
  • Golden crate is worth 3 but heavily contested
  • Block other teams from scoring while keeping up your own score
  • Protect teammates who are carrying crates
  • First to 12 points wins, or highest score when time ends

That’s all! I really appreciate it if you’ve made it this far. See you in the game!
