Reverse: 1999 – Endgame Raid Guide

Congratulations! You beat Limbo 6 for the first time… …Now what? Well, now, you’re in the endgame. The area of UTTU 20+, and, of course, Mane’s Bulletin, more commonly known as “raids”.

Raid Guide to Endgame

You might have tried it once, a while ago, just to see what it was, only to find yourself running into a wall. However, now that you presumably have several characters leveled to insight 3, you’re finding yourself looking for more to do. Well, don’t be intimidated by raids! They’ve got a lot of big numbers, yes, but those big numbers are held up by gimmicks you can easily maneuver around. Always be sure to read the enemies’ abilities thoroughly before you try Crisis Mode.

Before I get into it, though, I just want to give a quick disclaimer:

If you’re looking for recommended teams, this is not the guide for you. I will be walking you all through the steps you’ll need to take to create your own team for each raid. My goal is to give you all the tools you’ll need to beat Mane’s Bulletin, without telling you you need any specific characters.

Every raid gives certain characters an advantage. I’ll use the current first raid option, Isle Cryptid in version 1.7, as an example. The stage gives all Natural Afflatus characters (that is, Beast-Plant-Star-Mineral) a 20% boost to their Attack, Reality/Mental Defense, and HP stats. Additionally, Isle Cryptid gives Mental Damage characters a flat 15% damage increase.

This really makes team building a lot easier. All you really need is for your main carry to fit the raid bonus criteria, and preferably have afflatus advantage as well. It’s good practice to have at least one other character on your team who fits the bonus criteria, though.

Once you have your preliminary lineup plan ready, start reading the enemy abilities. In Crisis Mode, the Isle Cryptid boss will have a 20% damage reduction while its shield is up, and a -60% damage reduction when it’s broken. It’s fairly simple to infer from there that you should plan your burst damage around the shield!

Going deeper, you’ll notice that the “Shepherd” minor enemy will Taunt at the beginning of the next round if you don’t deal damage to it at least once each turn. Not to worry, though! If it does taunt, all it takes to dispel it is damage from a rank 2 or 3 incantation. Also, both of the minor enemies will give 3 stacks of Thunderous Movement to the boss when they die, and then return to full health, disarmed for a couple rounds.

Moving on to the raid boss, the first thing you’ll notice is that it doesn’t use moxie. This is a feature of all raid bosses, they all gain 1 eureka per incantation instead. So, as long as you drain their HP before 4 rounds, you won’t be hit by an ultimate! Raid bosses also are all immune to Control effects (Daze, Seal, Silence, Disarm, Petrify, etc.), so if you have plans to stunlock them with, for example, a Druvis III/Satsuki combo team, know that it just won’t work.

The Isle Cryptid boss then has a list of abilities (what I like to refer to as the “gimmick” of each specific raid). The first of these abilities is “Call From Above”, and the devil is truly in the details of this one. Whenever the boss is attacked, it gains 1 stack of Thunderous Movement; however, rank 2/3 incantations that deal damage to it instead make it gain 3/5 stacks of Thunderous Movement.

At the end of each round, if the number of stacks of Thunderous Movement are 8 or more, an effect will trigger based on the number of stacks. If the number of stacks is 8-13, it will cast a follow-up attack on two random characters. But, if the number of stacks is 14 or higher, it will take damage equal to 20% of its maximum HP!

So, if you’re reading the description, you’ll know three things. First, that you need to attack the Shepherd enemy every turn to avoid its Taunt. Second, that you need to plan your burst damage around the shield. Third, that you need to wait to attack until you can be 100% sure that the boss will go from 7 to 14 stacks of Thunderous Movement in one turn. Now all you need to do is make it happen.

If you want to be even more cautious, you can note that the boss gets extra Penetration while it’s in its shield, but also that it gets a damage dealt debuff if it’s in multiple Stats Down or Neg Status when it attacks.

Easy gimmicks to play around, right? Now, let’s revisit your original team plan. Does it still work as well as you thought it would? If it does, great! You can take on the boss and get those SSS’s! If it doesn’t, while you still have a decent chance at that SSS, it may benefit you to think again about your team comp.

For example, you may have opted to keep using Druvis III and Satsuki, despite the Control Immunity. Druvis III is still an amazing DPS unit who can carry you through the fight! She, as well as Satsuki, benefit from all three major bonuses (Mental Damage, Plant Advantage, and Natural Afflatus). Satsuki’s Rigidity also counts as a Neg Status toward the damage dealt debuff the boss gets.

You might also decide to change things up by bringing Bkornblume instead of Satsuki, to more efficiently get the boss to deal less damage. Really, the choice is yours! There’s no one right way to clear Mane’s Bulletin fights. If your first team doesn’t get you the score you want, try a different team! Several players have gotten a score of SS in some raids while only using 4-star characters and below, which caps their level at insight 2 level 50!

Ultimately, though, it’s just a game. Have some fun! Play around with different teams, even if you don’t think they’ll work. You’re in the endgame, after all! You’re likely to have some short stretches of waiting that feel much longer than they actually are, and messing around with raid comps will help you enjoy the game to its fullest even during downtime.
