SCUM – Voice Chat (PTT) Not Working In-Game [Solved]

How to Fix Voice Chat (PTT) Not Working Issue

Check that INPUT in Windows Sound Settings is set to the desired device and change if it is not (you may need to relaunch the game after changing).

If INPUT is set to the correct device already:

  • Scroll to the bottom of the Sound Settings and click “App Volume and Device Preferences” under Advanced.
  • Find SCUM on the list and change the INPUT to the desired device if it is not already (you may need to relaunch the game after changing).

If the in-game voice chat is still not working:

  • Sometimes other apps will “steal” the microphone from the game.
  • Open the game and any apps in a different order to stop this from happening.

If that still does not help:

  • Check Steam settings.
    • Shift + Tab while in game to open Steam Overlay.
    • Check the mic options in Settings, verify that the mic is selected.
  • Try step 2 in the Troubleshooting Guide.
  • Check Windows for any updates, including optional updates (often there are audio-related updates overlooked there).
  • Try un-binding and re-binding the key for Push-To-Talk (default keybind is B).
