Leveling Guide: How to Max Out Every Skill
Ву Facenapalm.
Combat Skills
(Blade, Blunt, Destruction, Hand to Hand, Marksman)
Making combat skills better is simple. When you hit something with them, you get better at using them. It doesn’t matter if you kill the thing or not. So, targets with lots of health are good for training. Some enemies, like Trolls, heal themselves constantly, which means you can hit them forever, especially on harder game settings. This is a good way to train skills like Destruction and Marksman from far away. You can find a spot where enemies can’t reach you and just hit them.
To train your other combat skills safely, you need someone who can’t be killed and won’t fight back much. Luckily, the game has a few of these.

The easiest ones to find are the people following Peryite. If you haven’t finished Peryite’s quest, they just stand there knocked out and can’t die. Perfect for hitting practice.

You can also get your own unkillable person at a place called Deepscron Hollow for about 3000 gold. Just follow the quest markers, buy the “Deepscron Cattle Cell,” and you’ll get a prisoner in a cell you can hit for as long as you want.
Non-Combat Magic Skills
(Alteration, Conjuration, Illusion, Mysticism, Restoration)
These skills work differently in the updated game. You don’t get better just by using a spell. You get better based on how much magic you spend. This means you don’t need to make weak spells to get better fast; any spell works. But, spells that target someone else won’t make you better if there’s no target. So, it’s better to use spells that only affect yourself. They don’t even need to help you. Like, you can heal yourself when you’re already at full health, and your Restoration skill will still go up.
Training these skills by just casting spells over and over can be really boring. It’s better to just cast them often while you’re doing other stuff in the game, like quests or exploring. If you really want to train them fast, just hold down the button to cast spells until your magic runs out. Then wait for an hour to get your magic back and do it again. The fastest way to train is using spells that target something up close (they have quick animations). You can use one of those people who can’t be killed as a target (like mentioned in the Combat Skills part).
Defense Skills
(Armorer, Block, Heavy Armor, Light Armor)
Your defense skills improve when things hit you. If you’re holding up a shield, your Block skill goes up. If you’re not blocking, your Light Armor or Heavy Armor skill goes up, depending on what you’re wearing. The plan is simple: find some weak enemies, like Rats or Mudcrabs. Lower the game difficulty a lot so they can barely hurt you, and then you can just stand there and let them hit you. Don’t forget to have Repair Hammers. Your armor will break fast, which is also great for making your Armorer skill better.

A good spot for this is in the basement of Arvena Thelas’ house in Anvil (you might know it from a Fighters Guild quest about rats). There are four weak, friendly rats there. You can make them attack you by using a spell or ability that weakens them (like Drain Luck, you can buy a spell like that in the Imperial City Market District). When you’re done, just leave the basement, and the rats won’t follow and will be friendly again.
To help your Armorer skill even more, always carry Repair Hammers and use them on every piece of armor you find.
Acrobatics Skill
Your Acrobatics skill gets better every time you jump or take damage from falling. This is another skill you can improve just by playing the game. Just jump a lot while you’re moving around.

If you want to train it quickly, find a place with a low ceiling. The idea is to jump and hit the ceiling right away so you land faster and can jump again sooner. Make sure the ceiling is flat, though, or it might push you away. The game has lots of spots like this; it’s not hard to find one.
Athletics Skill
Athletics improves when you run, sprint, or swim. If this is one of your main skills, you probably don’t need to специально train it because it will likely get maxed out just from playing through the game normally.

In the updated game, you can’t just run into a wall to train it automatically anymore. Training automatically is harder now. But there are places underwater where you can swim automatically forever. One example is the bottom of The Bloated Float Inn in the Imperial City Waterfront. Just know that training Athletics this way will take a very, very long time.

You’ll need a way to stay underwater for a long time for this, unless you’re playing as an Argonian. One way is to buy Nistor’s Boots from a shop in Leyawiin. You could also try to get Fin Gleam, which is free, but it’s located underwater, which might be a problem at first.
Alchemy Skill
Improving your alchemy skill is very simple: you make potions, and your skill goes up. Pick up every plant and ingredient you see and mix them together. Buying all the ingredients a shop has is also a good idea because you’ll make more money selling the potions you create than you spent buying the ingredients.

The easiest potion to make heals stamina. You just need to mix any two food ingredients. Any two foods work together, like bread and cheese, or vegetables and meat. You don’t need to mix more than two. You can find food by taking it from houses, buying it from inns, or collecting it from farms.
Remember to sell the potions you make. You can make a lot of money this way, and it also helps you get better at trading things quickly.
Mercantile Skill
This skill was changed in the updated game. How much better you get depends on how much gold you make from selling, not how many separate items you sell. So you don’t need to sell things one by one.
This skill will probably get maxed out by itself by the middle of the game because selling expensive stuff, like high-level armor, almost always makes the skill go up. If you want to make it better sooner, make and sell potions (like mentioned in the Alchemy part).
Security Skill
Normal Way

First, finish Nocturnal’s quest to get the Skeleton Key. This is a lockpick that never breaks and is very important for training Security. Second, clear out a place called Dunbarrow Cove.

Find the training chest in Dunbarrow Cove and keep trying to pick the lock automatically until it opens. It will lock itself again right away. Just keep doing this over and over.
Other Way
Start trying to pick a lock. Move your lockpick under a tumbler that’s already up (either one you opened or one that started that way). Keep hitting the button to set the tumbler (Space key is the default). Your Security skill will go up very fast.

This method might stop working if the game gets updated later.
Sneak Skill
Go quickly to the Imperial City Prison. Go into The Bastion and ask the guard there to let you visit a prisoner. Once he opens the door for you, go down to the cells and ask the guard to visit a prisoner again. The guard will go back to the door, and you’ll be free to do whatever you want.

There’s a prisoner in one of the cells named Claudius Arcadia. You can try to take things from his pockets through the bars, and he won’t care even if you fail. By doing this over and over, you can make your Sneaking skill much better pretty fast.
Speechcraft Skill
This skill is also straightforward. Just try to talk to every person you meet. It doesn’t matter if you do well or not, your skill will still go up.
