The Legend of Neverland – Wills Essentials Guide

Beginners Guide to Wills Essentials

By Heron.

  • I will not include stats of blue wills and sets in this guide.
  • I look at how the wills will help me clear content more than which fairy fits what will. Frankly, you can slam any will on any fairy and it would work fine.
  • I will not categorize which wills are good for which class, but I will describe which wills are good for which situation.

Will Structure

Every will core have 3 structure:

  • Basic Attribute:
    • Always be HP and attack:
      • Max HP: 1280(Gold), 574 (Purple)
      • Max Attack: 384 (Gold), 173 (Purple)
  • Core Skill:
    • Will be omitted if the will does not have core skill
    • Max possible level of core skills:
      • 6 (Gold)
      • 4 (Purple)
  • Additional Attribute:
    • 4 stats you can randomly roll into to enhance (3 stats + skill level if there is a skill)
    • 2 predetermined stats (or 1 skill + 1 predetermined stat), 2 random stats you will roll at +5 and +10

Generation Set Structure

Every will core have 3 structure:

  • Basic Attribute:
    • Set I-II will always be HP and crit (I)/break(II):
      • Max HP: 1920(Gold), 902 (Purple)
      • Max Crit/Break: 64 (Gold), 29 (Purple)
    • Set III-IV will always be Def and ten(III)/block(IV):
      • Max Def: 192(Gold), 91 (Purple)
      • Max ten/block: 64 (Gold), 29 (Purple)
  • Set Skill:
    • 2 Set Bonus (activates when you have 2 of the same generation set on one fairy):
      • Crit/Ten/Block/Break +40
    • 4 Set Bonus (activates when you have 4 of the same generation set on one fairy):
      • Set skill
  • Additional Attribute:
    • 4 stats you can randomly roll into to enhance
    • 2 predetermined stats, 2 random stats you will roll at +5 and +10

General Things to Know before You Read Further

  • The combination of your wills and sets on your deployed fairies are the only one that count towards the will/set effects
    • For example, if you put Fighting Will on your assist fairy but not your deployed fairy, you will not gain Fighting Will buff when you fight the enemy.
  • You can stack multiple wills with same name to increase will level
    • Ex. Fierce attack lv.5 + Fierce attack lv.4 = Fierce attack lv.9
  • Using the tech above, if you put Super Strength and Break Free on the two fierce attacks, both will trigger when Fierce Attack triggers (assuming they are not on cooldown)
  • You can stack multiple sets of the same name to increase set level
    • Ex. if you have 4 set super strength on all 4 of your deployed fairy, you will have super strength set level 4
  • Sets with same name shares same cooldown (If you trigger Break Free on fierce attack, and that attack trigger Slaughter, your Slaughter will not proc the Break Free attached to it)
  • Fairy stats scaled based on which fairy you put the set on. If you put a set with 4.44% attack on Erythrina you gain 14688*0.0445 = 654 attack.

Fierce Attack

Fierce attack is what we call a burst will. You gain an enormous amount of damage stat for a short period of time to deal burst damage. Its damage is somewhat relative to your enemy’s hp, take the following enemy stat for example:

  • 2,000,000 HP
  • 100,000 defense

Your stat:

  • 300,000 attack

Calculation:

  • 2,000,000 * 0.215 = 430,000
  • 300,000 *1.49 = 447,000; 430,000 < 447,000 ✓
  • 430,000-100,000 = 330,000 additional damage dealt to your enemy

The additional damage is dealt on your third attack, and it is based on the target’s CURRENT HP, so it gets weaker the lower your enemy hp is, however, this will is still valuable because of the damage increase it provides. Using the above calculation as an example:

Enemy stat:

  • 50% dmg red

Your stat:

  • 80% dmg inc
  • Calculation:
    • 80%+57%-50% = 87%
    • 200,000*1.87 = 374,000 damage

So how do you use Fierce Attack? First of all, you need to know what constitutes a “skill hits enemy”. Obviously, if your offensive skills like a vortex arrow hits someone, that counts. However, buffs count as a skill hitting a target (which is yourself). So you can time your Fierce Fttack like:

  • Buff(hit 1), aim priest skill (hit 2), switch to marksman, buff(hit 3), click multi
  • Buff(hit 1), switch to glad, soul blast(hit 2), moon slash(hit 3), punitive chop

Of course these are just some suggestion combos to show how fierce attack interacts with skills. You totally can come up with other combos that suit your playstyle.

Fighting Will

Fighting Fill is more of a continuous damage increase will, good for long fights (like guild boss or water and earth elemental bosses) At max stack, you gain:

  • 13.5% damage increase and 13.5% pierce rate

Let’s take the stats from fierce attack.

Enemy stat:

  • 100,000 defense
  • 50% protection
  • 50% dmg red

Your stat:

  • 300,000 attack
  • 45% pierce
  • 80% dmg inc

Calculation:

  • 45%+13.5%-50% = 8.5%
  • 300,000 – 100,000 (0.915) = 208,500
  • 208,500 * (1.435) =  299,198 damage

This will is a good option for people who know they have low burst and want consistent damage buff. You will not lose this buff unless you stop attacking for 4s.

The way hits register is the same way as fierce attack, however, because the buff is continuous, there is no real need to time your attacks for the buff.

One major disadvantage of Fighting Will is that many damage generation sets do not work on it. It has an exclusive generation set called Fighting Will Strike which reduces your skill cooldown upon max stack of Fighting Will. However, you can still use many damage generation sets by taking advantage of the set characteristic (this is mentioned in general things to know and I don’t want to repeat myself).

Mantra

Many have said Mantra is useless, but it is in fact a fairly strong offensive and defensive will. Like fighting will, it is a stat boosting will but the mechanic to maintain this will is different from fighting will since the trigger is casting fairy skill. Let’s look at the stat boost first:

Your stat (pre mantra):

  • 300,000 atk
  • 100,000 def

Your stat (post 3 stack mantra):

  • 300,000 *1.42 = 426,000
  • 100,000 *1.42 = 142,000

This is a nice attack and defense boost, but the problem of this will lies in its activation method. You HAVE to cast a fairy skill to activate it, meaning the only way you can keep this buff active is through fairy cycling. This means, you either need a lot of copies of mantra or a lot of copies of other wills on your different fairy teams to keep mantra active.

I have seen this will mainly used in Guild boss and water/earth elemental, basically an alternative to fighting will except it can activate many damage will sets unlike Fighting Will.

Side note: each buff acting independently means each stack has its own cooldown, and it disappears at its own time. So when your cooldown is over, not all three stacks disappear, they disappear 1 by 1.

Side note 2: The attack % is added onto your attack % of class advancement, costumes, and etc, so it is less than what it seems to provide.

Side note 3: With patch 1.33, in order to maximize your damage, it is recommended to hit the first 2 Fairy Flower skills right before hitting switch weapon, and hitting the remaining 2 Fairy Flower skills.   This allows all four skills to hit with the maximum of 3 Mantra stacks.

Rigidity

Rigidity is the perfect anti burst will that all burst players fear. Because it triggers directly after the character takes damage 3 times, it aligns perfectly with fierce attack proc, making it absolutely a nightmare to fight against. Let’s see some stat calculation in action:

Let’s say the enemy is the one wearing rigidity.

Enemy stat:

  • 100,000 defense
  • 50% dmg red

Your stat:

  • 300,000 attack
  • 80% dmg inc

Calculation:

  • 80% – (50% + 36%) = -6%
  • 200,000 * (0.94) =  188,000 damage

Let’s say you wear fierce attack (not counting the additional damage) and enemy wears rigidity.

Enemy stat:

  • 2,000,000 HP
  • 100,000 defense
  • 50% dmg red

Your stat:

  • 300,000 attack
  • 80% dmg inc

Calculation:

  • 80%+57% – (50%+36%) = 51%
  • 200,000 * (1.51%) =  302,000 damage

Rigidity alone cancels 118,700 damage that you would’ve taken without rigidity. Additionally, you gain a shield that’s 17% of your hp. If you have 2,000,000 hp:

  • 2,000,000 * 0.17 = 340,000 shield
  • 302,000 – 340,000 = 38,000 shield left

Main use of this will is during pvp content such as Top League, or Crystal Battlefield defense fairy team like water so you can tank and heal up. Its cooldown is slightly longer than fierce attack but the first wave of fierce attack is the most damaging/easy to time ones, and negating that wave of damage basically makes the dps/burst useless.

God Bless

Ahhh… Every tank’s favorite, God Bless. Writing this hurts me on the inside, but this is a will guide so I will have to write this. Let’s talk about stats gained before I talk about how to use it (I mean it is very easy, just pop it on).

Your stat:

  • 20,000 tenacity
  • 20,000 block
  • 50% dmg red
  • 50% protection rate

Your stat (post 5 stack godbless):

  • 25,000 tenacity (+25%)
  • 25,000 block (+25%)
  • 69.9% dmg red (+19.9%)
  • 62.5% protection rate (12.5%)

If you aren’t crying yet, let’s talk about how easy it is to activate it. When in battle, this literally means when you attack or when you are attacked, God Bless will start stacking every 2 seconds. So it takes about 10-12 seconds to build this up (starting from when combat happens). Meaning, several seconds after battle, you (or your enemy) would already be 25% more difficult to kill.

One thing about this will is that it is like Fighting Will; most other generation sets that require will activation to activate do not work on godbless. However, it has a very very good God Bless generation set called God Bless Heal that makes god bless even more overpowered. Even if you don’t want to use God Bless Heal,  you can still use other generation sets by taking advantage of the set characteristic (this is mentioned in general things to know and I don’t want to repeat myself).

What is God Bless good for? Tanking and long battles, if you are squishy and die to oneshot you will need a rigidity to assist you to survive.

Nightmare

Nightmare is probably every control player’s best friend. It has no cooldown and all your debuff gets extended for a good chunk of time. For example…

Moon slash (movement speed debuff):

  • 2 sec * (1.4) = 2.8 sec

And you have 25% chance for your attack to be 34.4% higher, which will look like:

  • 300,000 * 1.344 = 403,200

However, unlike Fierce Attack where the damage buff is for sure triggered after the third attack, nightmare attack buff is unreliable and difficult to time, which means it is good for classes that do not rely on bursting down enemies to win. Another thing to note is that most class skills only have 2 skills with actual debuff and only those skills can trigger Nightmare’s ATK buff.

Nightmare is decently useful on control fairies like Lycoris, Lavender and Balloon Flower where the debuff time is much longer than skill debuff time. For rose, nightmare also extends the damage over time to 14 seconds at level 12. For these cases, nightmare is usable in pvp content that uses fairy like Crystal Battlefield and Thunderroar Recess.

Debuff duration increases to 30% at Lv6 and 40% at Lv10.  If you are not going after the ATK buff, try to at least achieve either of these benchmarks in your build.

Side note 1: The attack buff part is the only part with cooldown.

Side note 2: The attack % is added onto your attack % of class advancement, costumes, and etc, so it is less than what it seems to provide.

Instinct

Instinct is the only will that rely on the dodge mechanic. It grants healing over time for 6 seconds after dodging, basically making the dodge button another heal button, which is useful for certain playstyle. Given the stat below as an example…

Your stat:

  • 2,000,000 HP

Calculation:

  • 2,000,000 * 0.174 = 348,000
  • 348,000/6 = 58,000 HP per second

If your Top League meta is all about sustaining, instinct is a good option to have as more HP means more sustainability. In sustain TL meta, your main focus is not to kill but to live while dealing more damage, which makes the additional HP you get from instinct much more valuable. This option is recommended for builds that are tanky but still do a decent amount of damage (like bruiser mm priest).

However, if your class has a lot of sustainability (such as glad priest) the value of instinct drops significantly as you already have so many sources to recover your HP. Furthermore, instinct takes up a will core space glad could use to deal more damage, so instinct is not very recommended for high sustain builds.

It does have another useful feature of being immune to knock backs. This is extremely useful to disengage from a tough combat against control heavy opponents like judges.

Slaughter

If you ever see some crazy damage numbers, it is because of slaughter. Slaughter additional damage is by far the highest in game (just counting additional damage not actual attacking). Let’s take the stat below…

Your stat:

  • 300,000 atk

Calculation:

  • 300,000 * 1.147 = 344,100 minimum additional damage
  • 300,000 * 2.294 = 688,200 maximum additional damage

I feel like I haven’t made additional damage clear in the fierce attack section so I will explain it more here. Additional damage is the damage that is added to your attack, so if you deal 100k damage and your slaughter will proc 200k additional damage, your displayed damage will be 300k. Slaughter’s additional damage will take on Critical Damage modifiers as well as other Player/Damage Increase modifiers.

Slaughter is an extremely valuable core for almost any Top League meta, whether it be bruiser meta or one shot meta because the amount of damage dealt once target is below 60% is just insane. The cooldown too is very low, allowing it to trigger frequently to ensure the target is dead/will be dead. Furthermore, the slow effect prevents the target from escaping and healing up. It is by far the best core for TL.

Slaughter is absolutely useless/low value in contents where the opponent does not drop hp (water elemental/earth elemental, guild boss pre-shield, and maybe some tanky ass tanks in TL)

Break Free

Break free is crit player’s favorite buff generation set. It is a temporary buff that only activates when your will core activates its skill. Its low cooldown makes it a good pair with low cooldown wills like Fierce Attack and Slaughter, but it can work with other wills too.

Your stat:

  • 300,000 attack
  • 50% crit damage

Enemy stat:

  • 100,000 defense

Calculation:

  • 200,000 * (1.5+0.5+0.115) = 423,000 damage from lv 1 break free
  • 200,000 * (1.5+0.5+0.307) = 461,400 damage from lv 2 break free
  • 200,000 * (1.5+0.5+0.456) = 491,200 damage from lv 3 break free
  • 200,000 * (1.5+0.5+0.542) = 508,400 damage from lv 4 break free

However, this set is only efficient on players who can consistently deal crit hits. Otherwise, all this damage is wasted.

Side note 1: Crit rate =/ crit stat on your character stat page. The only way to counter crit rate is through crit immunity.

Super Strength

If you can’t crit but you want to do damage, goldfish is your best friend. It is a temporary buff that only activates when your will core activates its skill. Its cooldown is slightly high, making it good with rigidity, but it still performs well with fierce attack and slaughter.

Your stat:

  • 2,000,000 HP
  • 300,000 attack

Calculation:

  • 300,000 + (2,000,000 * 0.009) = 318,000 attack from lv1 super strength
  • 300,000 + (2,000,000 * 0.021) = 342,000 attack from lv2 super strength
  • 300,000 + (2,000,000 * 0.035) = 370,000 attack from lv3 super strength
  • 300,000 + (2,000,000 * 0.051) = 402,000 attack from lv4 super strength

As you can see, 4 set super strength is a 25% attack boost when triggered, which is a lot considering all the damage calculation comes after the calculation of (attack – defense).

Fighting Will Strike

Fighting Will Strike is good for easy stationary bosses that let you rotate through a set of skills to keep Fighting Will at max stacks.  It lowers cooldown on all of your skills which allows you to use the skills more often. This set is also good on windchaser because windchaser gain damage based on reduced CD. Other classes with high skill cooldown can also take advantage of this set. However, you must equip fighting will to use the effect.

Calculation:

Lets say you are a priest casting Star blessing and you have the skill and its deepened skill maxed.

  • Star blessing base CD: 29.5s
  • Casting star blessing with fighting will max stack and Fighting Will Strike Lv4: 29.5*0.784 = 23.2s

And taking the TL time which is 3 minutes, you are casting star blessing 7-8 times per TL fight (assuming you are fighting the whole time). And since being a priest means your star blessing is up for 16 seconds, you have 7.2 seconds of buff downtime compared to 14 seconds of downtime without Fighting Will Strike.

This will set does not rely on the total level of Fighting Will. Hence you can elect to run one Fighting Will core with other cores that provide more DPS and still reaping the benefits of the cooldown reduction.

God Bless Heal

As the only will set that God Bless will trigger, it provides some of the best stats to assist your God Bless ability. It grants a significant amount of healing bonus, which if you stack with water echo, will heal back almost all damage dealt to you. Furthermore, it reduces heals other people generate from you through lifesteal, so you can prevent people from healing by damaging you.

Calculation…

Your stat:

  • 2,000,000 HP

Calculation:

  • 2,000,000 * 0.174 = 348,000
  • 348,000/6 = 58,000 * 1.297 = 75,226 HP per second

Side note: Healing bonus increases the amount of HP heal through any means of hp regeneration, for the calculation I will just take an example of healing through Instinct trigger.

Calculation for life-steal reduction..

Enemy damage:

  • 200,000

Calculation:

Without God Bless Heal:

  • 200,000 *0.12 = 24,000 HP from AOE attacks
  • 200,000 *0.40 = 80,000 HP from single target attacks

With God Bless Heal:

  • 200,000 *0.12 *0.4 = 9,600 HP from AOE attacks
  • 200,000 *0.40 *0.4 = 32,000 HP from single target attacks

Smart Shift

Smart shift is one of those will generation sets that is not will dependent since it activates when you heal through mostly actions (such as heal skills of priest and windchaser, and instinct heal). It is a decent defensive set to prevent burst damage (since the defense buff only lasts a few seconds).

Calculation..

Your stat:

  • 100,000 defense
  • 50% protection rate

Enemy stat:

  • 300,000 attack
  • 60% pierce rate

Calculation:

  • 50% + 18% = 68%
  • 100,000*1.12 = 112000
  • 300,000-112,000 =  188,000 damage

The protection rate ensures your defense won’t be pierced and increasing defense reduces the direct atk-def damage, making this a powerful anti-burst.

Plunder

Plunder is a will set that’s good for players who have low survivability against boss contents as it turns the flower fairy damage into your HP. It does not require a will to activate its effects and it is beneficial for players without HP steal. However, since it is dependent on your fairies doing damage, it is not applicable in contents that restrict fairy usage.

Calculation:

  • Your base damage (basically everything after damage calculation): 400,000
  • Flower fairy damage scale: 100%+1000 (auto attack)
  • Plunder 4 set: 401,000 * 0.22 = 88,220 HP per auto attack

This is very good considering your fairy does auto attack every tick, so you are constantly healing back up. You also get healed when your fairy uses skills which have higher multipliers and therefore, more healing.

Fast Speed

Like Smart Shift, Fast Speed does not require activation of a will’s core skill to trigger. Your movement speed increases after you press dodge. This set is useful for disengaging in battle on big maps like CB. This Will set is also very useful in Shrine Peak as it allows you to run around faster to collect more orbs from the ground. There’s not much to talk about other than you can move faster than others for a short period of time.

Movement speed buffs are applied additively with other Movement Speed buffs, such as from Windchaser’s Strength of Nature.

Vigor Wind

Vigor Wind is like Fast Speed and Smart Shift, you don’t need to activate a will’s core skill for its effect to trigger. Your dodge cooldown gets shorter the more sets you have, and dodge gives you momentary invulnerability, which prevents you from taking damage. This means you have more windows of not taking damage.

Calculation:

  • Base dodge cooldown: 5s per dodge
  • Dodge cooldown with vigor wind: 3s per dodge

Soul Hunt

Soul Hunt is a damage amplifier that works without any sort of cooldown.  This can be used along with Nightmare to extend crowd control durations to maximize damage.  This is a good option if you are using a class that applies slow a lot, such as Judge.  Do note that as a notable number of bosses are immune to slows and crowd control in general, Soul Hunt may have limited effectiveness against certain AI enemies.

Calculation:

  • Base damage: 150,000
  • Increased damage with Lv4 Soul Hunt = 150,000 * 1.289 = 193,350

Sprout of Flower

Sprout of Flower greatly amplifies damage from Fairy Flower skills.  This is usually used alongside Mantra in order to easily get all the damage buffs at once.  Similarly to Mantra, this generation set’s effects do not have any cooldown, meaning they can be put on several different Fairy Flower formations to buff their damage, allowing super quick rotations in PvE.

Calculation:

  • Base damage: 2,000,000
  • Increased damage with Lv4 Sprout of Flower = 2,000,000 * 1.826 = 3,652,000
