UNLIGHT: Revive – Starting Tips

Tips for Getting Started

By Amie.

This guide is for if you want to optimize your starting actions with a new account, if you don’t care for this or think its too boring to do it this way, please enjoy the game the way you think is best.

Pick Your Starting Character:

  • You get an R1 of the chosen character, preview their skills on any of the available wikis or ask around for advice.

Beginner Gacha:

  • Pick out at least 2 other characters that sound interesting to you, and roll the bronze card pool until you get all the characters you want.
  • Spend the rest in the gold card pool from now on unless you want cosmetics/can’t save up enough tickets.

Learn how the Dice Minigame works and spend some of your gems to get a decent number of White Heaths.

Spam unranked PvP with at least 2 of the New characters you got from gacha, loaded in your first deck. The third slot can either be filled with a monster card from exploration or any other card you want to level up.

  • If possible, do your PvP with a friend, as friend PvPs cost less AP.
  • Make sure to level up all cards in your deck 1 as soon as its possible to progress to the next level, since the PvP reward depends on the current level of your cards.
  • Alternate between getting character cards, and getting Gems in order to replenish Heaths used during the minigame.
  • Keep an eye on how much EXP you need to reach the next level, and save enough AP such that you can reach that next level by taking a bonus EXP card.
    • Keep in mind that every time you level, you get that level’s worth of max AP replenished.
  • Continue this until you reach avatar level 31 or 36, then you can play the game as you wish. Or continue to higher levels.

Daily Reset

  • Time
    • 10:00 PM
  • Tasks
    • 3 AP free PvP
  • Most Active Times
    • 12:00 AM to 9:00 AM

Action Points (AP)

  • Recharges every 30 minutes.
  • 3v3 = 5 AP random, 3 AP friend.
  • 1v1 = 2 AP random, 1 AP friend.
  • Ranked PvP = 1 AP.

Combat

Move Phase:

  • This is possibly the most nuanced part of combat, but here are some things to know.
  • Player with the highest movement determines direction of movement if either arrow is chosen.
  • If players chose different directions, the difference between the movement will determine how far both players move.
  • The player with the highest movement will attack first, this applies regardless of the action (arrow/rest/switch/nothing) you picked.
  • If movement is tied, the first attacker is chosen at random.
  • Any skills that cause forced movement happens after the regular movement is resolved.

Status Effects:

  • Poison
    • Causes 1 damage at the end of move phase, happens after HP recovery.
  • Spellbound
    • Causes damage equal to the number of spaces moved.
  • Seal
    • Disables all active skills
  • Paralysis
    • Sets MOV to 0, but does not prevent skills that cause movement.
  • Stun
    • No cards can be played.
  • Immortal
    • Nullifies all dice damage.
  • Immortal II
    • Nullifies all damage including direct.
  • Disintegration
    • HP set to 0 when duration expires.
  • Berserk
    • Damage dealt and received is doubled.
  • Fear
    • Damage dealt and received is halved rounded down.
  • Chaos
    • ATK and DEF doubled.
  • Dice Roll
    • The ATK and DEF dice have a 1/3 chance of landing on a face value.

Deck Building

General:

  • You want to build your deck such that the cards required to activate skills do not overlap too much. This allows you to make use of whatever hand you’re dealt.
  • However, you do want to group characters together that can make use of similar event cards since you control which cards to bring, and you’ll want to reduce the variety here since you only draw 1 per round.
  • You’ll also want to diversify skills that are used in different ranges so you can react to your opponents that force specific movements.

Vanguard (First Character):

  • Should have useful MOVE skills that.
    • Increase MOV value.
    • Apply status effects.
    • Debuff opponents.
    • Force certain positions.
  • Should require the least number of cards to activate skills.

Other Characters:

  • Add synergistic event card slots.
  • Hard counters for certain effects.

Notable Character Combos:

  • Sprout + Salgado.

PvE

  • Both Searching and Exploration requires AP.
  • The ☆ rating of the map gives a general indication on both difficulty and reward quality.
  • All maps have fixed encounters and rewards.
  • Certain maps will only appear under certain Search times.
  • Some regions contain unique event, equipment, or monster cards.
  • Boss maps will only appear after completing the required number of maps.
  • Clearing gifted boss stages does not count towards clearing the map if the progress bar is not already full.

PvP

Ranked:

  • Ranked PvP gives out certain rewards at the end of every month?
  • Certain events will also encourage PvP participation for rewards.

Unranked:

  • The main way to obtain duplicates for leveling character cards.

Dice Mini Game:

Depending on the type of PvP (1v1 or 3v3) and whether you win or lose, you’ll get a different rarity range for the dice mini game that comes after.

To advance on the bonus track, you have to guess whether a double dice roll is going to be higher or lower than the current number. The numbers range from 2 to 12, with 7 being equally likely to roll either higher or lower statistically.

1v1 Loss

  • Starts at 0.5 ★
  • Good for
    • White Heath 1 (200 Gems)

1v1 Win

  • Starts at 2.5 ★
  • Not good for anything

3v3 Loss

  • Starts at 5.5 ★
  • Good for
    • White Heath 3 (540 Gems)

3v3 Win

  • Starts at 7.5 ★
  • Good for
    • Character cards
      • 7.5-8.0 7x lv-1
      • 8.1-9.9 9x lv-1
      • 10 2x lv
    • Basic equipment cards
    • Fragments

Stack The Deck

You can only get duplicate character cards of the cards you bring in your deck. If you’re farming for a specific character, fill the other slots in your deck with monster cards.

Reminder that for the purposes of the mini game, an R# card is the equivalent of the non-R variant.

Item Use

  • It is generally a good idea to have some of all levels of White Heaths.
  • Clovers will not advance the track, but will change the compared number to the roll you just failed. It is both better and worse than White Heaths, but generally you’ll want to use them instead of a White Heath 3.
  • You should never buy Skip Stars, since they’re essentially the same as White Heath 5, and heath is cheapere.
