Think Points
In a utopian, perfect WARNO match, all points you spend on units would be doing something to which makes you win a game.
Such as:
- Pushing your frontline forward
- Defending your frontline against an ENY push
- Providing AA over your troops
- Intercepting ENY CAS
- Providing smoke and fires
- Et cetera
When looking at my replays, I tend to win the games when more of my “points” are doing these things than my ENY
Examples:
- My ENY has 4 AA Aircraft, even though I am not fielding a single plane
- Most of my units are either pushing my front line forward or defending at the front line
- I use my Arty to provide smokes for my pushes and fires to disrupt ENY pushes
I tend to loose games when I have a lot of “points” standing by, not doing something.
Examples:
- AA idling 2 clicks behind my front line
- A defensive flank not moving forward to gain an advantage
- Units not moving and not fighting the ENY for 15 minutes
- Having six aircraft cards chilling in the hangar for half of the match
When watching my own replays I always come to the same conclusion: I waste so many points on units that do not do something productive. If I had just bought more Inf and send them at the front line it would have been better.
Hypothesis I: When in doubt send your “points” to the front line.
OFC this will make me loose against a micro god. But my stuff shooting at my ENY stuff is still better than chilling somewhere 2 clicks away of the frontline. Once my micro gets better there is a time to incorporate them in my play style. Spending points on stuff I can’t effectively use is a waste and makes me loose games
Hypothesis II: A player using his cheap infantry effectively at the front line, can beat a player who has more expensive units idling in the hinterlands.
TLDR
Spend points on stuff you actually use.
