Newbies Guide to Team Building
By OppaiLover
A Guide to PvE Success
This guide focuses on team composition for PvE content, as PvP is highly situational and too complex to cover in detail. While there is no “one-size-fits-all” team in this game, effective team building depends on factors such as character abilities, skills, relics, Valkyrie synergy, faction synergy, and more.
For beginners, this guide will introduce the basics of building an effective team and understanding how it functions. For advanced team-building strategies, please ask the game’s community for personalized advice.
Character Placement
Each team consists of five positions, arranged from top to bottom and from frontline to backline.
- Frontline Characters: These characters will get hit first from enemies’ basic attacks.
- Backline Characters: These are safer from basic attacks initially, making it an ideal spot for your main damage-dealers (DPS) to maximize their survivability.
Exceptions: Character skills and ultimates may target specific positions (e.g., only backline or frontline). Always check your heroes’ skill description.
Tip: Place characters with high Defense or HP in the frontline and protect your DPS heroes in the backline.
Speed Matters
Speed is a critical factor in battles.
- Characters with higher Speed will act first, regardless of their position.
- Characters with skin may have speed buff. Keep in mind that the speed in character stat does not include it.
Example: Deploy Gaia will reduce enemies’ team speed by 30%. This will allow your team to attack first without getting hit by enemies.
Understanding Character Roles
A balanced team requires a mix of roles:
- DPS (Damage Dealers): The primary source of damage.
- Support: Provides buffs, healing, or utility (Double Ultimate for example) to the team.
- Tanks: Absorbs damage to protect the rest of the team.
Avoid imbalance: A team of 5 high-tier support characters may lack sufficient damage to clear content.
How to Check Roles
On the character screen, tap the Guide icon in the top right corner for detailed information on each character’s role.
Understanding Character Skills
While roles are important, skills are equally crucial.
- Some skills target specific positions (e.g., backline or frontline enemies).
- Others summon additional units (e.g., placing an extra creature in slot 6).
Tip: Ensure your team’s skills are compatible to each other and effectively cover all enemies
Synergy Considerations
Building synergy among your team is essential.
- Valkyrie Synergy: Place 2-5 same characters with same Valkyrie Synergy will get greater Valkyrie Synergy buff. Here are some example:
- Using 3 Glorian heroes provides team-wide CC immunity for longer durations.
- Monarch synergy offer extra damage protection
Demon synergy provides lifesteal to sustain themselves.
- Relic Synergy: Each team can equip up to 3 relics. Most epic or legendary relics may have up to 2 Valkyrie synergies, granting additional buffs if they match your team’s Valkyrie synergy.
- Faction Synergy: It is similar to Valkyrie Synergy. Deploy 2-5 of the same faction synergy will get greater faction synergy buff.
Tip: Try to align your relics with your team’s main Valkyrie synergy to maximize buffs. While considering Faction synergy as lower priority.
Battle Restrictions
Some PvE stages introduce specific debuffs or mechanics you’ll need to counter.
Example: A boss may apply a blind debuff to your team. Characters like Karnak or Lee with anti-blind counter-skills are essential to overcome this challenge.
Tip: Always read the stage description to prepare a counter-strategy.
